This Sunday, we will recognize Harriet Tubman Day (March 10) and learn more about this astonishing American in the context of Trust, our theme for March.
In the words of author Tiya Miles, Tubman matured into “her calling as an unfree Black woman during a period of racial brutality, masculinist primacy, chaotic change, political splintering, and impending civil war.” In this context, what did Harriet Tubman rely on? As she ventured into hostile territory again and again, what were her spiritual, cultural, intellectual, and communal anchors of trust? And why does she matter for us today? The sermon and service are by Gena Wade.
