Got questions? Speak with the Board Chair or any lay leader during our weekly Coffee Hour. Newcomers are also encouraged to attend an Inquirer Class which can be scheduled upon request. The Inquirer class is an opportunity to learn about the Fellowship and Unitarian Universalism, to answer questions, and to explore the responsibilities and benefits of membership in this congregation.

From the UUFSM Bylaws:

Becoming A Voting Member
A person of any race, sex, color, national origin, gender identity or sexual orientation who is at least eighteen (18) years in age may become a voting Member of this Fellowship by participating in a Newcomer’s Orientation, agreeing to the Bylaws, and then signing the Membership book.

Maintaining Membership
Membership is maintained by continued participation in the Fellowship and by making an annual contribution of record either in service hours and/or in monetary donations. The contribution shall be at least equivalent to the monetary value of the annual membership dues to the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and the Central Eastern Regional Group (CERG) and the cost of the bulletins (i.e., 10 service hours and/or $100 per year). The contribution requirement may be temporarily waived upon written request to the Board.

Youth Members
Persons who are 14, 15, 16, or 17 years-of-age may sign the membership book as Youth Members. Youth Members participate fully in the life of the Fellowship, including serving on committees, but may not vote at congregational meetings or serve as a Trustee. Youth Members are not counted in the annual membership total sent to the UUA.

Associate Members
Associate Membership is for those members who expect to be inactive due to travel, school, personal obligations, etc. but who plan on becoming active again. Associate Members may have their name and contact information included in the directory, and receive the UUFSM newsletter via email. Associate Members do not need to make annual contributions of record; they may not vote at business meetings, and they do not receive UU World and are not counted in the annual membership total sent to the UUA.

Friends
Friends are encouraged to participate in all aspects of the Fellowship (except serving on the Board of Trustees and the Nominating Committee). Friends are invited to have their name and contact information included in the directory, and to receive the UUFSM newsletter via email. Friends do not need to make annual contributions of record; they may not vote at business meetings, and they do not receive the “UU World” magazine and are not counted in the annual membership total sent to the UUA.
