UUFSM is an independent, lay-led organization. That means the members and friends of the Fellowship create an unfolding community vision, and choose to work together in support of this shared vision: to foster an inclusive, caring community focused on personal spiritual development and service to Southern Maryland and the greater community. Would you like to help?

One of the easiest ways for a newcomer to help out is to volunteer to bring snacks one Sunday for the Coffee Hour, or a flower arrangement for the chalice table. For more information, contact the Board Chair or the Worship Committee Chair.

There can be short-term task forces or long term teams with a specific duty or goal within any of the following interest areas:

The Sunday Mornings interest area focuses on nurturing the members and friends of the fellowship with worship services that could include readings, music, dance and drama.
Lifespan Religious Education involves organizing children’s Religious Education (Sunday School) or small groups and programs for adults and teens.
Our community is strengthened through We Care Activities, social activities and annual events, and we are introduced to the wider community of Southern Maryland via civic-minded social justice activities.
We rely on Finances and Planning to monitor and build our resources toward defined goals, and on Communications for helping us stay connected with each other and to share our message with the world.
There is a UU Denominational Matters area focusing on internal and denominational affairs via the Central Eastern Regional Group (CERG) and the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). CERG and the UUA provide information, training and support upon request and manage denomination grants.

For information about how you can become involved in any of these areas, contact the Board Chair at trustees.UUFSM@gmail.com.
