This Sunday, we will zoom into the River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation for a sermon by Senior Minister Rev. Nancy McDonald Ladd. Rev Ladd writes, “As we kick off our monthly theme for October reflecting on ‘heritage,’ I will be revisiting the classic story of David and Goliath. What was the most powerful weapon David carried with him into that age-old story of conflict? What does it mean to be part of something larger than oneself? And can a community topple giants we could never defeat on our own?”
[Note: The sermon accompanies this weekend’s hosting of Unstoppable Stories: A Banned Book Festival by the River Road UU Congregation on Saturday 10 AM to 2PM and Sunday, 11AM to 2PM in the church parking lot (6301 River Road, Bethesda MD 20817, entrance on Whittier Blvd). Representative Jamie Raskin is the Saturday keynote speaker at 1PM.]
After the sermon, we will break away for our own candles of Joys and Concerns in person and on zoom.
